Kansas City Hospice is grateful to the team at Chicken N Pickle for becoming the champions of Carousel pediatric care! Chicken N Pickle took North Kansas City by storm in 2016 and hasn’t looked back. The indoor/outdoor complex includes delicious food, eight pickleball courts. Plus, there’s a bar and entertainment space, ping pong, outdoor lawn games, and more!
One of the best things about this wildly successful concept is the motto that drives the business: “Our hearts are local”. The leadership and staff of Chicken N Pickle, led by Dave Johnson, are deeply committed to raising funds (and having FUN) for Carousel pediatric care, a program of Kansas City Hospice. They do this each year by going all-in on Mustache Month.
The online fundraising event takes place during the month of February. Participants grow (or fake) a mustache while raising funds to support Carousel kids, their families, and other services provided by the program. The business quickly jumped on board and embraced our Carousel kids. In 2020, Chicken N Pickle teammates raised over $5,000 toward the event! “It’s so much fun for our employees! It makes for great conversation between patrons and our servers…people naturally comment on all the mustaches, so it opens the door for us to spread the word about Carousel!” says Chicken N Pickle Senior Vice President Kelli Alldredge.
Carousel cares for kids
Carousel provides specialized hospice and advanced illness care to children and their families, serving between 50 and 100 kids each year. While it’s hard to think about kids needing hospice, when a family does need it, they need the experts. It’s a critical service that lets kids be kids and helps families make memories that will last a lifetime. Mustache Month honors the playful spirit of youth while raising funds for a serious cause. In 2021, with the generous support of Chicken N Pickle and the many growers, fakers and donators, Mustache Month raised more than $16,000!
We’re thrilled to announce that Chicken N Pickle, and their support of pediatric hospice, is expanding! Locations now include North Kansas City, Wichita, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City, with locations coming soon in Overland Park, KS and Grand Prairie, TX! They really set an example of how a corporate-nonprofit partnership can benefit local communities.
