Jennifer Quinn

Jennifer Quinn, CNA, was awarded the 2021 Heart of Hospice Hospice Aide Award by the Missouri Hospice & Palliative Care Association on March 11, 2021.Kansas City Hospice

When you work in one of the largest area hospices, the only one with two hospice houses, you get to meet a number of amazing CNAs. You have to be rather amazing to work daily in hospice, to do it with passion, and to work tirelessly to give both your patients and their families the comfort, peace of mind, and hope that they need. It can be hard, but it can also be a beautiful experience.

Jennifer Quinn is a truly wonderful CNA. She stands out among the many outstanding CNAs on our staff. She has the patience, expertise, and love needed to help the most difficult patients. Her focus each moment of each day is to spread kindness and to make each person feel as if they are the most important person she will meet today.

“Her direct hands-on care is always gentle, patient, and loving. She takes care to listen to her patients and families to ensure their needs and wants are always met. She takes her time when providing care so that the patient does not feel rushed or unimportant.”

One thing that makes Jennifer unique is that she is also a trained hair stylist. She takes the extra time to make sure each patient looks their best – men get a shave with their fresh clothing and a quick hair trim if needed – women get the hair style or braids that they prefer and all the little touches it takes to make her feel special. Just because she is off duty is no excuse for Jennifer.

She often visits on her days off or stays late to make sure every patient who needs a haircut or style gets what they want, even if they can barely lift their head. Being a hospice aide is not just what she does, it’s who she is.

“She has a big heart, but what makes her so special is that she doesn’t think it is any big deal. She just believes that this is the way it should be done and so she does it, day in and day out making a difference every moment.”

Congrats, Jen! So nice when someone who gives so much is recognized for what they do! It has been a pleasure working with you as a volunteer. Can’t wait until I am back serving patients with you again after a long year of Covid. Judi

Jennifer (aka Jen) is very deserving of this award! She goes the extra distance to provide the “little things” that end up being “big things” at a profound time in a human journey. That extra touch provides a sense of dignity and respect for both the patient and their family. She is a key team player and communicates with her nurse about patient changes and needs during her care. She has a heart for hospice and that shines through in her dedication to this special work.

Jennifer is a gem in soooo many ways! So happy to see her recognized and appreciated as I have appreciated her for many years (decades!) as my go-to beautician girl, and counselor too! 😉
God is using His loving servant in marvelous and miraculous ways. Jennifer is a blessing to many people, and I am blessed to be in that number.
    So proud of you!
    Love you Friend!
