There are unique opportunities are available to volunteer at Kansas City Hospice House, located at 12000 Wornall Road. The inpatient facility provides a homelike environment and expert care for seriously ill people who are unable to stay at home. Volunteering at the House is often a good option for working adults as our inpatient unit is open 7 days a week including holidays. Opportunities are available in the evenings and on weekends.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Delivering meals to patients
- Arranging flowers
- Preparing welcome baskets for new patients and families
- Staffing the hospitality desk to answer guests’ questions and assist them
- Sorting items for recycling
- Special projects
You also may arrange for your group to go to Kansas City Hospice House™ to cook a meal for family members staying at the facility or bake cookies that can be served to guests. See Meal Guidelines and Baking Guidelines for more information.
In addition, you may volunteer to create special hearts to hang on patients’ doors who have passed. Download instructions and sample photos of the hearts.
