National Nurses Day

May 6 is National Nurses Day! Each year a week long observance begins on May 6 and ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

Nurses are a special part of the hospice experience, proving expert compassionate care

Each of our nurses has the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of those in their care. Also, their care extends to the families and caregivers. Families are freed from worrying about their loved one’s comfort. So they may put all their energy into simply being together.

As part of a team of experts, our nurses make sure every person’s needs are fully met. They work together to ensure that everyone is comfortable. And, they also ensure that each person has all the information they need and desire. So, their role is as much about education as it is about caring. Nurses provide people with a greater understanding about what is happening to them or someone they love. They are true advocates for each and every person that comes under their care.

Please join us this day and every day in thanking the wonderful nurses of Kansas City Hospice and all of the nurses around Kansas City for their knowledge, dedication and compassion.

The mission of Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is to bring expert care, peace of mind, comfort, guidance, and hope to people who are affected by life-limiting illness or by grief. And, our vision is each person in our community is valued from life through death and each family is supported in their grief.
