Jewelry for Hospice

Jewelry for Hospice is a volunteer jewelry recycling program created by Kathy Corbin and the Jewelry for Hospice designs are sold exclusively at Story Boutique to benefit Kansas City Hospice.

How does Jewelry for Hospice work?

  • Individuals and community groups collect jewelry that is sitting unused in jewelry boxes, even if it’s outdated, broken or tarnished. The jewelry may be delivered in person or mailed to Story Boutique at 3704 W 95th St, Leawood, KS 66206.
  • Volunteers evaluate the jewelry into categories. Those that can be repaired and quickly rehabilitated are put into the jewelry case for sale immediately.
  • Pieces that are too outdated or broken are taken down into parts, sorted by color and stored for future use.
  • Volunteers contact bead shops, suppliers and manufacturers around the country, asking for donations of jewelry making supplies like wire and findings needed to make jewelry. (Sometimes they even send pieces ready to sell!)
  • Volunteer artists create new, original and unique necklaces, earrings and bracelets using donated materials — creating beauty from what might have been consigned to the junk bin.
  • Jewelry for Hospice designs are sold exclusively at Story Boutique.
  • Stay tuned for online sales of special pieces!
