Help for Hospice House

They say that “food is love,” and so many people have cared for the families at our hospice houses by bringing meals, homemade treats, and other food. So many of you have a tradition of coming time after time and your commitment has been treasured.

Much has changed in our world lately, including the way we handle food at Kansas City Hospice House and NorthCare Hospice House.

To protect our patients, families, and staff, we have had to limit food donations to only items that are commercially produced in a facility, individually-packaged, and ready to eat. (Think vending machine snacks.) We made that decision with a heavy heart, but it is the right one for now, and for safety.

We have been so blessed to have some of our “regulars” switch to donating packaged snacks. Thank you! A staff member is serving them from a cart and distributing as needed to minimize contact.

Kansas City Hospice House currently has a good supply and variety of snacks, as well as vending machines for those who need them.

The NorthCare Hospice House needs snacks now.

This could include individual packages of chips, cookies, granola bars, peanut-butter-cracker packs, and more.

If you are interested in donating, please call 816.691.1215 to arrange a no-contact drop-off outside the door. You may also buy online and have snacks shipped directly to NorthCare Hospice House.

Everyone is looking forward to the day when we can all come together again safely, to gather around the dining rooms over a hot, home-cooked meal and conversation. Until then, we hope you will be well, take precautions to protect yourselves and others, and remember that we are all in this together.
