Understanding All the Options

A Full Range of Care

Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is the area’s only hospice provider with a dedicated palliative care team and two hospice houses, giving you the most options. People don’t have to change providers just because conditions change. We can begin helping earlier and stay with your loved one however the disease progresses – even if they get better.

The area’s first hospice, we’re based in Kansas City and care for a 12-county area across Kansas and Missouri with award-winning care teams.

Still not-for-profit, we care for people regardless of their financial situation. And, we attract the very best dedicated volunteers to augment our care.

We’re just a phone call away and will gladly come meet with you to respond to your questions, needs and concerns.

Supportive or Palliative Care

Palliative (pal-lee-uh-tive) care is supportive care at home that gives expert guidance, medical assistance and emotional support for your loved one and family while they are being treated for a serious illness. It focuses on improving quality of life by reducing pain and other symptoms and dealing with emotional stress. And, it is available at any age and at any stage of an illness, even while during curative treatments. Palliative care is available before the time for hospice.

Hospice Care

Hospice is a philosophy of care that focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatments.

Hospice provides care, comfort and support for the entire family. The hospice team works to make your loved one comfortable and relieve symptoms and pain for the entire length of the illness. Hospice can be provided wherever your loved one lives, whether that is your family home, assisted living or even a long-term care facility. Find out if hospice is right for your family.

Care at Kansas City Hospice House™

Sometimes, pain and symptoms are too serious to be managed at home. Short-term inpatient care can be helpful in dealing with pain, shortness of breath, anxiety or other distressing symptoms. The Kansas City Hospice House™ is a haven for the seriously ill and their families.

Care for Children

It takes special skills and hearts to care for seriously ill children and their families. Carousel offers specialized home care for infants, children, teens and young adults with serious illnesses.

Care During Pregnancy

Sometimes tests during pregnancy reveal problems that may limit a baby’s life. When families face that uncertainty, the Carousel Perinatal (before birth) Program offers support, comfort and education.
