Community Education Series: What is Hospice & Palliative Care?

November 18, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join us November 18 as Dr. Pamela Harris, KCH Director of Medical Programs, discusses the basics of hospice and palliative care. Learn about the Medicare hospice benefit, what levels of care are available, and how palliative care can help manage the symptoms of a serious illness that is not terminal. In this session, Dr. Harris will address common myths and misconceptions about end-of-life care and help you gain a better understanding of how hospice and palliative care can improve comfort and quality of life for you or a loved one.

Dr. Pamela Harris received her MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR). She is Board Certified in Kansas and Missouri in PMR and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. Dr. Pam joined Kansas City Hospice as an associate medical director in 2006. She has given several presentations which include pain management, advanced directives, and ethics in palliative care.  She is also an ordained Deacon in the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church.
