Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Volunteer Training
March 23, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Event Navigation
This training is for those interested in hospice or grief support volunteering. Our highest need at this time is for home hospice care volunteers willing to provide respite and companionship for patients and families residing in their homes, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities. Volunteers are especially needed in Eastern Jackson County, Kearney, Smithville, Weston, Platte City, Wyandotte County, Leavenworth County, and Miami County.
NorthCare Hospice House is in need of volunteers for hospitality, patient visits, and front desk for weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
At this time, volunteer openings at Kansas City Hospice House are very limited. Volunteers are needed to assist with meal service (breakfast, lunch and dinner served to patients in their rooms). Volunteers are also needed for the front desk on weeknights and weekends. There are currently a few weekend shifts open for patient/family visitors. There are no weekday volunteer openings for front desk or patient/family visitors at this time.
Grief support volunteers are needed to provide ongoing friendly visits to clients on our hospice bereavement services. These visits might take place in the home, or at a mutually agreed upon location such as a coffee shop. (Grief support volunteers will receive the same general orientation as hospice volunteers.)
If you are interested in exclusively providing administrative assistance, please contact Melissa Basgall at mbasgall@kchospice.org.
This two-day training is scheduled for Monday, March 23rd and Wednesday, March 25th, from 9am-3pm both days. Attendance both days is required. Registration is required.
If you’re interested in attending, please contact Melissa Basgall at mbasgall@kchospice.org.
