Most patients don’t consider palliative or hospice care until it’s too late in the disease process for both patient and family to receive the full benefit of the programs. We want to partner with you early in the process to help address both medical needs and quality of life. Our programs and services are designed to help you provide the best possible care, starting while you are still providing curative treatment and helping you support your patient and their family with an interdisciplinary team that helps implement your plan of care.
Palliative home care during serious illness – the area’s first palliative home care team to provide patients with relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of serious illness, whatever the diagnosis. Patients feel better, families cope better and patients may live longer. Patients may be receiving active care, or not be ready or appropriate for hospice.
Transition to hospice – our hospice care teams will help you provide your patients with the care and support they need as their disease progresses and needs change. Our coordinated approach helps reduce patient anxiety and hospital admission, increasing both the quality and quantity of life, while also giving support to the family.
A place almost like home – Kansas City Hospice House™ is a haven to patients and families alike when the patient needs pain management, control of other distressing symptoms or an around-the-clock nursing presence.
Dedicated care for children – special skills and special hearts are needed to care for seriously ill children and their families, even before birth. Carousel Pediatric and Perinatal programs are dedicated teams with the experience and expertise families need.
Unparalleled volunteers – over 400 dedicated volunteers bring such a breadth of services to patients and families.
A commitment to Kansas City – KC’s original hospice and still not-for-profit, we have been devoted to caring for our community since 1980. Our focus in entirely local, with a local board of directors.
