Kansas City Palliative Medicine is comprised of the physicians and advanced practice nurses who provide care through our 12-county service area. Our staff are all specialists in hospice and palliative medicine who serve all of our patients at Kansas City Hospice House and NorthCare Hospice House. They also make house calls as needed. Our staff includes palliative physicians, advance practice nurses/nurse practitioners and physicians currently in our fellowship program. Along with caring for patients, our physicians train other physicians through our Palliative Medicine Fellowship and serve as faculty at local medical schools. They frequently speak at local and national conferences are nationally recognized for their expertise and excellence.

Dr. Pamela Harris is the Director of Medical Programs for Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care. She received her MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR). She is Board Certified in Kansas and Missouri in PMR. Dr. Pam joined Kansas City Hospice as an associate medical director in 2006. She has given several presentations which include pain management, advanced directives, and ethics in palliative care. She is also an ordained Deacon in the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church. | Dr. Alex Lane joined Kansas City Hospice in July 2020, after serving in our Fellowship program in 2019-2020. He completed his BS from Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in biology and economics and a minor in Chinese. He received his medical education from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education in West Palm Beach, Florida. | |

Dr. Tim Link joined us as an Associate Medical Director in 2007. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and completed a Family and Community Medicine residency there. He is board certified in Family Medicine as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine. |
Dr. Tehrani received her BA in Human Biology and her MD from the University of Kansas. She then did her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She did her Fellowship in Hospice & Palliative Medicine at Cook County Hospital and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Care. | Dr. Hendricks received a BA in biology from Texas Christian University. She then completed her medical school degree at Kansas City University College of osteopathic medicine. Her residency was in emergency medicine at Beaumont South Shore. Prior to moving back to this area for fellowship, she served as emergency medicine attending at Houston Methodist West Hospital. Following her completion of the fellowship with us, she joined KCH as an associate medical director on August 5, 2023. |

Kaitlyn Balough is a Nurse Practitioner who came to Kansas City Hospice in 2013. She graduated from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in the Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program and received her MSN. She is a board-certified nurse practitioner in adult health by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. | Board-certified as a family nurse practitioner, Deborah Coon joined Kansas City Hospice in July 2016. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2009. Her areas of practice as a nurse practitioner have included primary care, urgent care and geriatrics. Previously, she worked in intensive care, cardiology and hospice. Her special interest is pain management and supporting both patient and family on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. | Sandra Eggers is a family nurse practitioner with experience in corporate wellness, urgent clinics, and triage. She received her AA from Penn Valley Community College, then her BS in Nursing from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in Lawrence. She trained as a nurse practitioner at the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing in Columbia, and she is a Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse. |

Maria Farrell has specialized in caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses for more than 20 years. She joined us in 2005. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with an MS in nursing, she is board-certified as a clinical nurse specialist in adult health, as an advanced practice registered nurse in palliative care, and as an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner. She received the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine Mentorship Award in 2007-2008. | Jason Gray re-joined the staff of Kansas City Hospice in 2021. He graduated with his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2019 and also holds credentials in Healthcare Education. Jason has been a nurse since 2007 and has had the privilege to work with patients, families, and providers in Hospice settings as well as Intensive Care, Emergency Department, and Primary Care. He graduated with Honors from the University of Kansas School of Nursing. | April Kimball has worked in the field of hospice & palliative care since 2008. Denise Sanders has more than 20 years of nursing experience. She received a BS in Nursing at William Jewell College and an MS in Nursing at UMKC. In 2010, she joined us as the nurse practitioner for the home hospice program. Denise holds certifications from ANCC as an adult nurse practitioner and HPNA as an Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse. In 2014, she was a March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Finalist in the Advanced Practice Nurse category. | Tammi Watkins joined us in 2017, having worked in the field of hospice & palliative care since 2000. She obtained her BS in Nursing from MidAmerica Nazarene University and her MS in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. She also has a Business degree from Baker University. She holds certifications from AANP as a board-certified adult nurse practitioner and from HPNA as an Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse. | Angela Interiano is an adult and gerontology nurse practitioner. She obtained her Master’s degree from The University of Kansas Graduate School of Nursing in August 2014 and has worked in the specialty field of pain management since 2005. Mrs. Interiano is nationally board certified in pain management by the American Nursing Credentialing Center, as well as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She joined the medical staff at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care in October 2014. She has nearly a decade of experience working with patients in hospice care, as an expert in pain and symptom management, and has direct experience with our Nation’s veteran population. |

Tracy Coltharp APRN attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in chemistry. She then attended KU School of Nursing and worked in many areas of nursing. Tracy received her Master of Science in Nursing program for Adult and Gerontological Nurse Practitioners through KU in 2014. She has a number of years of hospice experience as a nurse practitioner. Tracy will be supporting Kansas City Hospice House and palliative care initiatives. | Jennifer comes to us with more than 27 years experience as a registered nurse and more than 7 years experience as a family nurse practitioner. She got her BSN from St. Luke’s College in KCMO, her MSN from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and her FNP from the University of Central Arkansas. She will be working with our Community-Based Palliative Care program and sharing in weekend call at the inpatient units. | Jeffrey received his BSN from College of the Ozarks and his MSN from Olivet Nazarene University. He works as an RN for 9-1/2 years, 4 years in medical–surgical and 6 years in ICU/PICU. As a family medicine APRN, he has worked with the palliative care team at University Health and has experience in hospice face-to-face recertification visits. He will be working on a PRN basis doing face-to-face recertification visits. |

She began her career as a CNA for 5 years and then worked as an RN for 14 years with experience in oncology and palliative care. She recently completed her family medicine APRN certification.
