Three Types of Care

Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is the area’s only healthcare provider to offer a full range of care. You don’t have to change providers just because your condition changes. We can begin helping you earlier and stay with you however your disease progresses — even if you get better.

Supportive or Palliative Care

Palliative (pal-lee-uh-tive) care is supportive home health care that gives medical assistance, expert guidance and emotional support for you and your family while you are being treated for a serious illness. It focuses managing symptoms and dealing with emotional stress. And, it is available at any age and at any stage of an illness, even while you are seeking a cure. Palliative care is available before the time for hospice. Carousel provides care for children and teens.

Hospice Care

Hospice is a philosophy of care that focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatments. Hospice provides care, comfort and support for you and your family. The hospice team works to make you comfortable and relieve your symptoms and pain for the entire length of your illness. Hospice can be provided wherever you call home, whether that is your family home, assisted living or even a long-term care facility. Hospice is also available during pregnancy with Carousel Perinatal program.

Inpatient Care at Hospice House

Sometimes, pain and symptoms are too serious to be managed at home. Short-term inpatient care can be helpful in dealing with pain, shortness of breath, anxiety or other distressing symptoms. Kansas City Hospice House™ and NorthCare Hospice House offer a home-like atmosphere for complicated care.
