40 years ago, on November 3, 1980, we served our first patient and continued on to care for 74 more patients and families by the end of that year. We were fortunate to have a glimpse into the early days when we heard from our first nurse Mary Lou Hathaway as she joined us virtually at our signature event, Sunday Night LIve, last month. Her reflections of creating our original mission statement and developing our initial protocols were interesting.
