Children Grieve Too

Camp Erin® Kansas City Family Camp is a free bereavement camp for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Families with children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a day or weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and connect with peers who are also grieving.

Camp Erin Kansas City Family Camp 
Friday, June 14, 2024 and Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Tall Oaks Camps and Conference Center in Linwood, KS.
 
Camp Carousel – One Day Camp
Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10 am to 5:30 pm at Powell Gardens in Kingsville, MO. 
 
Applications are first come, first serve and camp interviews are required to participate. If you have participated in our camp program previously, your family will be placed on a waiting list. Camp Erin is led by bereavement professionals and combines grief education and emotional support with fun activities. Families experience a safe environment to explore grief, learn essential coping skills, and connect with peers who are also grieving. There is no cost to attend. 

Camp Erin provides a safe place to:

  • Tell their story in a safe environment
  • Learn they are not alone
  • Process grief in healthy ways
  • Honor and memorialize loved ones
  • Build a toolbox of coping skills
  • Have fun!

The Los Angeles Camp Erin was featured in an Emmy award-winning documentary on HBO in 2014 called One Last Hug. It can be purchased HERE.

Camp Erin is for children and teens who are several months past their loss at the time of camp. Families will be notified about acceptance to Camp following an interview and as space permits.
