A Night of Celebration and Hope

By Angela Ross, Content Specialist

On Sunday, October 3, 2021 Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care (KCH) hosted its annual signature event, Sunday Night Live (SNL). This fundraising event helps support the KCH mission, as donations raised allow us to provide assistance to families who need our care, regardless of their ability to pay or the severity or stage of their illness. SNL provides an opportunity to learn more about our nonprofit and the services we provide to the community including inpatient hospice care, home hospice and palliative care, grief counseling and camps to support grieving children, families and adults. It is also a time to celebrate YOU and everyone who continues to support our organization.

Sunday Night Live Recap

This year’s event was held virtually, from the comfort of your home, which allowed a wide range of people to participate in this jubilant celebration. The night’s excitement started with a Patron Party where attendees enjoyed food, wine, live music and so much fun! Following the party was a magnificent Virtual Program hosted by Zach and Linsey Mallin, our Event Chairs, Honorary Chairs Bill and Lynn Intrater, and David Wiley, President & CEO of Kansas City Hospice. A Celebration of Hope was the theme of this year’s program. Stories of hope were shared throughout the evening including that of Jerry Freidberg whose wife (Barbara) was diagnosed with stage-four cancer that had metastasized to other areas of her body. Jerry shared how Kansas City Hospice nurse Neva Campbell-Lowe, LPN, assisted Barbara and the Freidberg family by jumping in and meeting them right where they were. Jerry explained that having the assistance of a nurse in this crisis situation helped the family get through this difficult time. We also took the evening to celebrate the opening of Kansas City Hospice House and the care and comfort our staff has provided to patients over the past 15 years. This great work could not happen without your support and SNL is a time to honor all of our donors and sponsors. KCH donors can be assured that every dollar given stays right here in our community. The evening concluded with announcing our Raffle winners.

Attendees note that they had a great time at this year’s SNL event and the praise continues to pour in!

“Absolutely wonderful event. A++++. Loved every minute,” says one attendee.

With your support, this year’s Sunday Night Live event raised an amazing total of $450,178!

Thank you to the 2021 SNL Committee

The success of KCH events would not be possible without the outstanding support of our event committee. Committee members volunteer their time and expertise to bring this event to life in new ways each year and have been especially helpful with the transition to virtual events in 2020 and 2021. Every committee member devotes countless hours securing sponsorships and in-kind items and developing a marketing strategy for the event, just to name a few things. Committee volunteers make a world of difference for the many families throughout the community who rely on the expert, compassionate care provided by Kansas City Hospice staff. We cannot thank you enough!

Never too late to give
